The M-3 'Scout', a light armored reconnaissance vehicle, was one of the most numerous of its kind, with 21,000 units produced. Mass production of the M3A1 variant began in 1941 at the Ford plant. M-3 vehicles were used by the armies of all Allied nations in the anti-Hitler coalition, including the Red Army. The vehicle could carry eight people and was protected against bullets and shrapnel. A heavy machine gun could be mounted in the body.
