Named after a Union general from the American Civil War, the M4 Sherman was the most numerous tank in the U.S. Army during World War II. Delivered to the Soviet Union via Lend-Lease in late 1943, the Sherman was reliable, agile, and technologically advanced. Its diesel-powered M4A2 variant was the most common medium tank used by the Red Army. Armed with a 75 mm M3 L/37.5 gun, it earned the nickname 'Emcha' among Soviet tankers. Around 2007 Shermans were received by the Red Army during the war.
