Potash alum, also known as alum salt, is a wood finish crafted from hydrated double potassium aluminum sulfate. It bonds effectively with plant-based pigments such as walnut stain, sandalwood, and mahogany. Additionally, it serves as a fixer for pigments and lime paint, helping to create an even finish by balancing surface absorption. Alum salt can also act as a light protective layer and is useful for cleaning and disinfecting wood surfaces before applying natural paints.
- Usage: Dissolve 100g of Alum Salt in 1L of hot water, stir gently until fully dissolved. Apply to a clean, dry surface using a brush, ensuring even coverage. Allow at least 24 hours for drying. A second coat is recommended once the first is dry
