In 1940, the M11/39's shortcomings surfaced in North Africa, prompting significant design and armament upgrades. General Caracciolo di Feroleto oversaw the M13/40's development, with fifteen prototypes ready by July 1940. The main gun was enhanced to a 47/32, and twin machine-guns were added to the hull. The M13/40, assembled from riveted armored plates, proved superior to its predecessor, but its armor was prone to cracking. After initial production, radios and modified mudguards were added. The M13/40 first engaged in combat on December 9, 1940, serving in North Africa, Greece, and Yugoslavia. Contents: five M13/40 or M14/41 tanks, five tank commander figures.
