In late 2013, Lockheed Aircraft revealed plans for the much-anticipated successor to the iconic SR-71 'Blackbird', the SR-72. This hypersonic aircraft, designed for both reconnaissance and combat, is expected to reach speeds of Mach 6, over 4,100 mph, using a turbine for initial acceleration and a dual-mode ramjet for top speed. Unlike its predecessor, the SR-72 will be unmanned, essentially a drone. The desktop model, measuring 10" long, comes with a display stand and requires some assembly, with miniatures supplied unpainted.
