Cheap plastic but as long as you are not, then it should never break. The hourly chime they are talking about is not a thing unless you turn it on, they don't read the very clear instructions on the back of the box on how to use it. I have beeped once a day just before it was time to get into work, but you can also set it to an hourly beep at any time in the hour you want. These are a great timer for the budget. Simple functionality, split timer mode and clock function with alarm Now the two granddaughters have identical stopwatches at a good price without having to share. With each of their own problems, difficulty can find something other than having to share. You do not know the accuracy that is not as important as how they look and function identically.
