In his 'Off the Radar' series, Marc Trautmann showcases once-great aircraft in their raw, vulnerable state, stripped of their control gear. The metallic sheen on their bare surfaces serves as a final tribute to their past precision. Time's passage obscures their former identities, uniting them in anonymity. The vast desert setting accentuates their immense size and elegant lines, as if they've gathered here in tranquility, away from their former passengers. Yet, open doors beckon viewers to board these impressive machines that seem to lazily stretch their wings towards the sky. No longer reliant on admiration for their engineering, they inspire respect for their past capabilities. Trautmann encountered an unusual sight in the Mojave Desert: discarded Lockheeds, dismantled Boeings, ravaged TriStars, and noseless jet planes. These aircraft have claimed their desert territory, defiantly resisting decay. Someday, they'll take their final flights; here, under the scorching sun, they've found their last resting place. Trautmann's title seems to lament these machines' disappearance from global airports, rather than surrendering them to nature.
